Reducing Screen Time for Kids

Reducing Screen Time for Kids

Screen time should be avoided for children under two, one hour per day for those two to twelve, and two hours per day for teenagers and adults, according to the American Academy of Pediatrics.
You may wean your children off of screens by using the following screen swaps:

  1. Screen-Free Mornings:

  • For your youngster to see when they wake up, set up a small scenario with toys inspired by Toy Story.
  •  Make a morning checklist that your youngster can adhere to.
  •  Set a timer to record how long it takes your kid to get ready.

 2. Screen-Free Outings:.

  • Provide your child with a play bag filled with things to do while you are away.
  • Play car games in the automobile, such as “I Spy” or “How many cars can you see in five minutes?”
  • Engage in guessing-based games.

  3. Afternoons Without Television

  • Have your kids create a comic book or poster on their own.
  • Persist in having your child create a toy obstacle course.
  • Help your kid create a comfortable haven of their own.

     4. Screen-Free Meal Times:

  • Encourage your child to prepare a menu and set up a “restaurant” for the evening.
  •  Get your kid to assist you with the veggie washing or ingredient measuring.

    5. Chores Without a Screen:

  •  Have your kids create their own task charts.
  • Have your youngster use a sponge to erase the letters they wrote with a whiteboard marker on a window or mirror

 6. Without a screen for homework:

  •  Help your youngster learn spelling by writing messages for them to read with a water gun or bottle.
  • Have your youngster calculate the number of points they score by throwing a ball at a wastebasket or marking it on the wall while you play a game

    7. Bedtimes Without Screens:

  • Encourage your kids to create their own sleep ritual on a chart.
  •  Count the steps on your feet to your child’s bedroom.
  • Before going to bed, read a tale to your youngster.
